About the Author:
I am a graduate of the University of New Hampshire where I received my degree in English Teaching with a minor in History. In a few short months, I will complete my graduate coursework in Human Relations at Plymouth State University.
While I loved teaching inside the regular classroom, I knew in my heart that something was missing. During my last year teaching a 5th and 6th grade multi-age class, I was presented with many challenges but even more rewards. As each day passed, I found myself becoming most attached to my students with the most challenging behavior. I realized very quickly that all these students needed was to be listened to. I wanted to show these students that no matter what, I would not give up on them and I genuinely cared about their feelings. I began to understand that all behavior is functional and I love the challenge of figuring out what that function is for each individual student. After I this discovery, I made the decision to enroll in graduate school so I could further my understanding of behavior and, hopefully, make my passion my career.
In addition to being a life-long learner, I am the proud puppy-mom to a one-year-old black lab/pit bull mix, named Charlie.
Thanks so much for reading, and enjoy,
Jennifer
